Stratford Upon Patea

Head south on SH3 and you soon hit the township of Stratford - the gateway to Egmont/Taranaki National Park. With over 320km of walkways and breathtaking views, visitors can spend hours exploring the surrounds. For skiing enthusiasts the main road to the Manganui ski field is situated in the town. Stratford is also one of several Taranaki towns that play host to the annual Rhododendron Festival in October. Another source of pride is its town clock tower, home to the only glockenspiel in New Zealand.
